Ithaca represents the process in reaching our goals, or the recovery of something we have lost. In the Odyssey, Odysseus had to fight for his journey back home, his loved ones, even Ithaca itself. He suffer a lot to reach Ithaca, which is considered as the final destination of peace and prosperity. A painted archaic eye on his ship protects him against evil and envy on his long journey after the Trojan war.
